Roast level is the simplest useful place to start when choosing coffee. It does not tell you everything about the cup, but it helps narrow the field without pretending there is one best roast.
Lighter roasts
Lighter roasting usually leaves more room for origin character and the flavors people describe as bright or lively. Morning Kick is the lightest blend in Wild Calf's core lineup.
Middle roasts
Run Wild, Plains Drifter, and Cattle Baron move through the middle of the lineup. Start here when you want something between the lightest and darkest ends.
Darker roasts
Darker roasting usually places more emphasis on roast character and a heavier impression in the cup. 5 Wire is the darkest core blend.
What roast level does not tell you
Roast label alone does not reveal an exact caffeine amount or guarantee a particular flavor. Bean choice, dose, measurement by weight or volume, grind, water, and brewing method all affect the result.
- Morning Kick: lightest
- Run Wild: light-medium
- Plains Drifter: medium
- Cattle Baron: medium-dark
- 5 Wire: darkest
